BELLEVILLE — A woman is suing her alleged abuser, claiming she suffered seven years of battery and sexual assault.

Brandy Burke filed a complaint July 28 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Gregory D. Jerashen, alleging battery and violation of the Illinois Gender Violence Act.

According to the complaint, Burke alleges that within the past seven years, Jerashen committed "offensive acts" of battery against her. Burke alleges the acts included “forcibly removing" her clothing, biting and fondling her breasts and "forcibly causing penetration" while attempting to "force sexual activity on her.”

Burke alleges that she did not consent to Jerashen's alleged actions and that she has suffered significant physical and emotional injuries.

She claims that these “unwanted batteries” were made with a “conscious disregard” for her “safety and well-being" and in violation of the Illinois Gender Violence Act.

Burke also claims that as a result of her injuries, she has accumulated medical expenses, lost wages and suffered emotional damages.

Burke seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Peter Maag of the Maag Law Firm LLC in Wood River.
