BELLEVILLE — An Illinois man is suing the driver of a commercial vehicle and his employers after suffering injuries in a Caseyville collision.
Thomas J. Heugele filed a complaint July 24 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Support Systems and Services Inc., Southern Bus & Mobility Inc., Doryliss Liner, and Chaba Moses, alleging negligence.
According to Heugele's complaint, he was driving on Highway 157 on July 25, 2018. He claims Liner, who is employed by Southern Bus and Support Systems, moved the shuttle bus he was driving into his lane from the opposite direction and struck his vehicle, which caused his car to spin around and cause other collisions.
Heugele claims he suffered “serious and permanent injuries" to his head, brain, neck, back, pelvis, chest, legs, shins and other organs as well as a concussion and whiplash.
Heugele alleges Liner's “negligence and carelessness” was a result of his operating the bus "too fast for the conditions."
Heugele claims Southern Bus and Support Systems were negligent by failing to adequately screen and hire drivers and that their bus "was not in proper operating condition."
Heugele also alleges Moses, who was another driver operating a vehicle involved in the accident, was negligent.
Heugele seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by Shane Moskop of Freeark, Dennis, Murphy & Moskop. PC in Belleville.
