BELLEVILLE — A woman is suing the owners of Centerfield Tavern, alleging another patron who tripped over the flooring, caused her to fall off her bar stool and be knocked unconscious.

Cathleen Yarber filed a complaint July 20 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Ron & Michelle Centerfield, Tavern LLC doing business as Centerfield Tavern, Ronald Bartlett and Michelle Schifferdecker, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Yarber was at Centerfield Tavern in Belleville on July 20, 2018. She alleges in her complaint that while she was sitting on a bar stool at the tavern, another patron fell into her after tripping over a "metal floor stripping." Yarber alleges that after the patron fell into her, she was thrown off her bar stool and hit her head on a "bar foot rest." Yarber was knocked unconscious and claims she suffered injuries to her head, neck, hip and whole body.

She also claims she suffered permanent "disabling and disfiguring" injuries as well as "pain and mental anguish."

Yarber also claims she has suffered loss of income, hospital and other medical bills.

Yarber alleges in her complaint that the defendants failed to maintain and inspect their premises and make needed repairs. She also claims Centerfield Tavern failed to warn her and other patrons about the hazard.

Yarber seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Leah Captain of Cook, Bartholomew, Shevlin, Cook and Jones in Belleville.
