EDWARDSVILLE — A woman is suing a Granite City bar after she was allegedly attacked by an intoxicated patron and suffered a broken jaw.

Katie Peppers filed a complaint July 27 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Hooch & Sixteen's Bar Inc., and Justin Pinkston, alleging negligence, assault and battery.

Peppers alleges in her complaint that on June 21,  Pinkston was at Hooch & Sixteen where he was served alcoholic beverages. Peppers claims that after becoming intoxicated, Pinkston "violently attacked and struck her" in the face and jaw.

Peppers claims she suffered a broken jaw, head injuries and injuries to her neck and back as a result of the attack.

Peppers also claims that Pinkston had become drunk on other occasions at the Hooch & Sixteen Bar prior to June 21 and would invoke fights and become "violent" and "belligerent" with other patrons. She alleges Pinkston was asked to leave the bar due to his previous behavior, but returned on June 21 and began attacking customers.

Peppers alleges the bar was negligence for failing to keep Pinkston off the premises and failing to protect or warn patrons.

Peppers seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by  Edward Szewczyk of East Alton.
