Patient, wife accuse chiropractor of negligence

Lawsuits

BELLEVILLE -- A patient and his wife are suing an Illinois chiropractor, alleging the defendant's negligence caused pain and discomfort to the husband.

Tim and Amy Cadigan filed suit Sept. 5 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dr. Thad Vuagniaux, alleging an operation for neck and back pain resulted in a vertebral artery dissection.

According to the complaint, on July 11, 2018, Vuagniaux performed an adjustment and manipulation of Tim Cadigan's neck. Two days later, the suit alleges, Cadigan was at a baseball game when he experienced the symptoms of dizziness, vomiting and loss of coordination and had to be admitted to a hospital in Colorado. Cadigan said he had to undergo brain surgery, resulting in changes in his speech, vision, cognitive and motor skills, that led to loss of income and medical bills.

Amy Cadigan alleges loss of consortium, plus "large sums of money in hospital, medical and related expenses."

Vuagniaux was not available for comment.

The Cadigans seek damages of more than for $75,000, plus court costs. They are represented by attorney Thomas Q. Keefe Jr. of Keefe, Keefe & Unsell PC in Belleville.
