Belleville attorney Moore enters appearance for Fields in Madison County

State Court

EDWARDSVILLE – Attorney Dedra Moore of Belleville has taken charge of the defense of David Fields, who faces a felony weapon charge in Madison County.

Moore entered an appearance for Fields in proceedings before Circuit Judge Kyle Napp on Sept. 9, replacing public defender John Rekowski.

Napp had set Sept. 9 as a trial date, but she pushed it back to Nov. 4.

She set a Sept. 30 hearing on a motion Moore filed for discovery of evidence.

Last December, St. Clair County jurors acquitted Fields of the murder of Carl Silas in 2016.

The investigation of the murder resulted in allegations of obstruction against Circuit Judge Ron Duebbert.

Grand jurors heard the allegations in 2017, and chose not to indict Duebbert.

Fields spent two years in jail before jurors restored his freedom.

Collinsville police arrested him on July 31.

State’s attorney Tom Gibbons charged him with possession of a weapon by a felon.

Fields, age 23, had served time for domestic battery before turning 20.

Fields had no weapon when police arrested him.

They charged him with possession of a rifle that a Collinsville man found in his recycling bin the next day.
