Patient sues over trip, fall at assisted living facility

EDWARDSVILLE — A resident is suing a Maryville assisted living facility, alleging she was caused to trip and fall over a protruding door threshold.

Jonella Clements filed a complaint May 14 in Madison County Circuit Court against Cambridge House of Maryville II Inc., and Gardant Management Solutions Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Clements was a resident at Cambridge House, located at 6960 State Road 162 in Maryville. On March 1, Clements claims he tripped and fell over a protruding door threshold that the defendant had allowed to exist.

The plaintiff alleges the plaintiff sustained extensive injuries to her head, body and limbs, including a broken ankle. Clements claims she sustained medical expenses, pain and suffering.

Clements seeks damages in excess of $50,000 and costs of the suit. She is represented by attorneys John H. Hustava of Collinsville and by Bruce E. Mattea of The Mattea Law Firm in Collinsville.
