BELLEVILLE — A St. Clair County couple is suing Belleville property buyers, alleging they are owed more than $75,000 on a property.
Matthew Mitchell and Janette Mitchell filed a complaint March 13 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Covenant Land Partnership LLC, Manny Segura and Highwood 1 Trust, alleging breach of contract.
The suit states the Mitchells and the defendants entered into an agreement in writing on May 12, 2014, for the purchase of a property at 17 Highwood Lane in Belleville. The plaintiffs claim the balance due at closing was $84,473 but the defendants have only paid $9,453.58 toward the purchase price.
The plaintiffs allege they have lost possession and title to the real estate in addition to not having been paid the remaining balance owed.
The Mitchells seek costs of litigation, plus $75,019.42 and attorney fees. They are represented by attorney Brian D. Flynn of Flynn Guymon & Garavalia in Belleville.
