BELLEVILLE — A customer is suing a Millstadt smokehouse, alleging she fell after tripping on a poorly positioned rug.

Connie Sauerwein filed a complaint Feb. 21 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Schubert's Smokehouse & Meat Packing Company Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on April 15, 2017, Sauerwein was at Schubert's Smokehouse in Millstadt. The plaintiff claims her right foot became stuck in the right corner of a mat by the entrance, causing her to fall forward and sustain disabling injuries to her chin, face, head right hand and left knee. She also alleges she incurred medical expenses.

Sauerwein seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs of suit. She is represented by attorney Stephen C. Buser of the Law Office of Stephen C. Buser LTD in Columbia.
