Motorist, passenger sue Catholic organizations following collision

EDWARDSVILLE -- A motorist nd passenger are suing Catholic organizations after another driver allegedly failed to stop and caused a collision. 

Debra White, Daeshana Perry, a minor, and by and through her mother Angel White, filed a complaint Feb. 12 in Madison County Circuit Court against Patricia J. Simmons, Mother of Good Counsel Home, Mother of Good Counsel Home Auxiliary, Catholic Charities Foundation, Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri, Catholic Charities of Missouri LLC and Catholic Charities of St. Louis, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Debra White was driving with Perry as a passenger on Feb. 13, 2017. They were traveling northwest on East Broadway Street when Simmons allegedly caused a collision while driving a vehicle owned by the other defendants. The plaintiffs allegedly sustained injuries in the crash. 

The plaintiffs allege Simmons negligently failed to stop at a turn signal and drove recklessly. They allege the remaining defendants negligently entrusted their vehicle to a reckless driver. 

The plaintiffs seek damages of more than $50,000, attorney fees and court costs. They are represented by attorney Kevin M. Collopy of Drake & Collopy in Chicago.
