Motorist sues over rear-end collision

BELLEVILLE — A St. Louis motorist is suing another driver for allegedly causing a rear-end collision in St. Clair County.

Anita Peterson filed a complaint Feb. 5 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Michael P. Riley and Branding Iron Holdings Inc., alleging negligence and reckless driving.

According to the complaint, Peterson alleges that on Oct. 20, 2017 she was at a stop sign near the southbound exit ramp of Interstate Highway 255 in St. Clair County when her vehicle was rear-ended by Riley. The defendant was allegedly driving a vehicle owned by Branding Iron Holdings. 

As a result, the plaintiff claims she sustained injuries and endured pain and suffering.

Peterson seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Thomas E. Schwartz of Holloran Schwartz & Gaertner LLP in St. Louis.
