BELLEVILLE — A motorist claims she was injured when another driver caused a rear-end collision in Swansea.

Nancy Kelahan filed a complaint on Feb. 11 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Nicholas Kerman and JHK Inc., doing business as Ango Kerman Rentals and Sales, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 21, 2017, she was operating a 2005 Honda Accord along Frank Scott Parkway in Swansea when Kerman caused a rear-end collision while driving a 2003 Dakota Sport vehicle owned by JHK.

Kelahan claims she suffered severe and permanent injuries to her neck and back, as well as to the muscles, tissues and nerves.

The plaintiff alleges Kernan failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to reduce speed and failed to bring his vehicle to a complete stop to avoid the crash. The plaintiff also alleges JHK negligently entrusted its vehicle to Kerman.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in a sum exceeding $50,000, plus costs of suit. She is represented by Ronald S. Motil of Motil Law Office in Glen Carbon.
