BELLEVILLE — A motorist is suing a pickup truck driver for allegedly causing a Shiloh collision.
Jeffrey McCoskey filed a complaint Feb. 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Philip Ferguson, alleging failure to keep proper control of a pickup truck.
According to the complaint, on March 24, 2017, McCoskey was driving a 2009 Honda Accord and was stopped in traffic on North Greenmout Road near its intersection with Greenmout Crossing in Shiloh. McCoskey claims Ferguson's truck collided with the rear of his vehicle, pushing it forward into another vehicle.
The collision, the lawsuit states, caused extensive damage to McCoskey's vehicle and severe injuries to his hands, knees, neck and back.
The plaintiff alleges Ferguson followed McCoskey's Honda more closely than reasonable and failed to stop, swerve or slow down to avoid colliding with the rear of the plaintiff's motor vehicle.
McCoskey seeks trial by jury, damages of not less than $50,000, plus court costs and all further just and proper relief. He is represented by attorney George R. Ripplinger of Ripplinger & Zimmer LLC in Belleville.
