BELLEVILLE — A St. Clair County motorist is suing a tree service after one of its employees allegedly caused a collision.

Christopher Tenllado filed a complaint Jan. 24 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Scott M. Coleman and Scott's Tree & Outdoor Services LLC, alleging the defendant failed to exercise reasonable care in entrusting its commercial vehicle to a careless driver.

According to the complaint, on March 19, 2017, Tenllado was operating his 2016 Ford F-150 on Troy-O'Fallon Road approaching West Kirsch Road when Coleman crashed into the plaintiff's vehicle at a high rate of speed. Coleman was allegedly driving a commercial vehicle owned by Scott's Tree & Outdoor Services.

Tenllado claims he suffered serious and permanent injuries resulting in pain, discomfort, disfigurement, mental anguish and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Coleman failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield right of way and failed to slacken speed, swerve or stop to avoid striking Tenllado's vehicle.

Tenllado seeks trial by jury, judgment greater than $50,000, plus court costs and all other just and proper relief. He is represented by Hrant "Hud" Norsigian Jr. of Norsigian Law Office LLC in O'Fallon.
