BELLEVILLE — A Fairview Heights motorist claims another driver lost control of his vehicle and caused a crash.

Daniel Morehouse filed a complaint Jan. 25 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Andrew Rubin, alleging failure to exercise due care and caution in operating a vehicle.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 15, 2017, Morehouse claims he was stopped in traffic in his 2007 Toyota Tundra on the southbound lane of North Illinois Street near its intersection with Market Place in Fairview Heights. Morehouse claims Rubin caused his Ford 250 to lose control and collide with the rear of the plaintiff's vehicle.

Morehouse alleges he suffered serious injuries, leading to pain and anguish.

The plaintiff claims Rubin negligently operated his vehicle at an excessive speed, failed to keep careful lookout and failed to properly apply the brakes to stop his vehicle.

Morehouse seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $50,000, plus costs of court. He is represented by attorney Anthony P. Gilbreth of Crowder & Scoggins Ltd. in Columbia.
