BELLEVILLE — Two motor vehicle owners claim an East St. Louis auto repair service refused to complete repairs on an SUV.

La Trice Vanderford and Anthony Armstead filed a complaint Jan. 30 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Leon Austin, doing business as LA Customs Auto Body, alleging violation of the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act.

According to the complaint, in 2018 Vanderford and Armstead contracted LA Customs to perform repairs for their damaged 2018 GMC SUV for $4,500. They allege the defendant failed and refused to complete the repairs pursuant to the agreement, causing the plaintiffs to suffer damages.

Vanderford and Armstead seek trial by jury, compensatory damages in excess of $5,500, plus an additional punitive damages of more than $50,000 and court costs. They are represented by attorney David Duree of David M. Duree & Association PC in O'Fallon.
