EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist is suing the estate of another driver who allegedly caused a collision on Route 157. 

James Myers filed a complaint on Jan. 30 in the Madison County Circuit Court against the estate of Patricia Carter, alleging Carter breached her duty to operate her motor vehicle with due care for the safety of others.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 7, 2017, he was driving a vehicle traveling south on State Route 157 when Carter entered into his lane of travel and collided with his vehicle. 

Myers claims he sustained extensive injuries to his hip that resulted in pain and suffering, disability, loss wages and necessary medical care and treatment expenses. 

The plaintiff alleges Carter failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to maintain in her proper lane of travel, thereby causing her vehicle to collide with plaintiff's vehicle.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in his favor for an amount in excess of $50,000, plus costs and all other relief deemed just and proper. He is represented by Shaun M.
