Texas man alleges dozens of users of asbestos products caused mesothelioma

EDWARDSVILLE — A Texas husband and wife are suing Ameron International and dozens of others users of asbestos products, alleging negligence.

Peter Jacoby and Jean Jacoby of Spring, Texas, filed a complaint Feb. 4 in Madison County Circuit Court against the dozens of defendants, alleging failure to exercise due care and caution for the safety of others.

According to the complaint, during the course of Peter Jacoby's work history that began in the late 1950s, he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested large amount of asbestos fibers emanating from certain products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by the defendants. On or Nov. 2, 2018, the suit says, Jacoby first became aware he had developed mesothelioma, an asbestos-induced disease. 

Jacoby said he has suffered great pain, mental anguish and was hindered from pursuing his normal course of work. Jean Jacoby alleges she has sustained lost of companionship, service and society of her husband. 

The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to provide information regarding the safe handling and cleaning apparel to avoid exposure to and ingesting large amount of asbestos.

The Jacobys seek trial by jury, compensatory damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and all other just and equitable relief. They are represented by attorney Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville.
