EDWARDSVILLE — A bank employee is suing a furniture company after she allegedly fell from her chair at work due to faulty screws.

Rebecca McGuire and Matthew McGuire filed a complaint Jan. 28 in Madison County Circuit Court against Corporate Interiors Inc. and CI Select, alleging the defendants' employee failed to fix the chair in accordance with their policies and procedures.

According to the complaint, Rebecca McGuire was working as a financial service representative at Scott Credit Union in Wood River when she fell off her chair on Feb. 7, 2017.

Rebecca McGuire claims she sustained injuries to her back lower extremities and neck, and that Matthew McGuire suffered loss of consortium, society and the service of his spouse.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants' employee failed to replace the screws on the back of the chair and failed to properly warn McGuire that the back of the chair was not yet properly affixed.

The McGuires seek trial by jury, judgment exceeding $50,000, plus court costs. They are represented by attorneys Michael P. Glisson and Timothy J. Chartrand of Williamson, Webster, Falb and Glisson in Alton.
