BELLEVILLE — A motorist alleges another driver caused a collision by weaving in and out of traffic.

Candace Girard filed a complaint on Jan. 2 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Cindy Ruiz, alleging she failed to operate her vehicle in a careful and prudent manner.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 11, 2017, she was operating a vehicle on Interstate 64 near mile post 8 in Caseyville Township. At the same time, Girard alleges Ruiz was weaving in and out of traffic when she entered the same lane as the plaintiff and caused a collision.

Girard claims she suffered injuries that resulted in pain and suffering, loss of normal life, medical expenses and lost wages.

The plaintiff holds Ruiz responsible because she allegedly failed to keep proper lookout, failed to reduce speed and followed the plaintiff's vehicle too closely.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount exceeding $50,000, plus costs. She is represented by Mark D. Prince of Prince Law Firm in Marion.
