Car accident 11

EDWARDSVILLE — A passenger is suing a driver following an East Alton collision.

Tonya Cutright filed a complaint on Jan. 15 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jonathan L. Waters, alleging he negligently operated his vehicle at an excessive speed.

According to the complaint, Cutright alleges that on Sept. 20, 2016, she was a passenger in a vehicle traveling on W. St. Louis Avenue approximately 300 feet west of West Main in East Alton when her vehicle collided with Waters' vehicle.

Cutright claims she suffered extensive injuries to her neck, back, right shoulder and right leg.

The plaintiff holds Waters responsible because he allegedly failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield and failed to properly apply brakes to avoid the collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000 but not exceeding $70,000, plus costs. She is represented by John H. Hustava of John Hustava Attorney at Law in Collinsville.
