BELLEVILLE — A passenger is suing a motorist for allegedly making an improper turn and causing a collision.
Rick C. Burries filed a complaint on Jan. 9 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Luis Gutierrez, alleging that the driver negligently disobeyed a traffic control device.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 14, 2018, he was a passenger in a 1994 Toyota Camry when the defendant allegedly caused a collision near the intersection of Camp Jackson Road/Illinois Highway 157 and Triple Lakes Road/Interstate 255.
Burries claims he suffered serious and painful injuries to his face, jaw, neck, chest, back and body as a whole.
The plaintiff holds Gutierrez responsible because the defendant allegedly carelessly operated his vehicle at an excessive speed, failed to keep proper lookout and negligently made an improper turn in front of the plaintiff's vehicle.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount of not less than $50,000, plus costs, expenses and all other relief that is just and proper. He is represented by Justin C. Wilson and Andrea A. Stanley of Brown & Crouppen PC in St. Louis.
