Suit alleges Alton borrower owes more than $165,000

EDWARDSVILLE — A Godfrey woman is suing an Alton borrower, alleging he owes more than $165,000 for breach of a promissory note.

Robin Long filed a complaint Jan. 2 in Madison County Circuit Court against Vern Van Hoy, alleging default in payments.

According to the complaint, Van Hoy executed a promissory note in favor of J. Thomas Long for $165,547 on April 1, 2017. The plaintiff alleges the subject note was assigned to Long on Sept. 12, 2018. The plaintiff alleges Van Hoy has failed to make payments in accordance with the terms of the note.

Long seeks trial by jury, judgment of $165,547, plus interest, attorney fees, court costs and all further just and proper relief. She is represented by attorneys Deanna L. Litzenburg and Mary E. Lopinot of Mathis, Marifian & Richter Ltd. in Belleville.
