Patient accuses Maryville health care providers of negligence

EDWARDSVILLE — A patient is suing Maryville health care providers, alleging negligent treatment. 

Steven Norbury filed a complaint Dec. 14 in Madison County Circuit Court against Anderson Hospital, Walgreens and Dr. Raghu Kanumuri, alleging failure to exercise the requisite standard of care.

According to the complaint, Norbury was a patient of the defendants when they failed to order an MRI or CT scan of his spine, failed to administer antibiotics, failed to order blood cultures and failed to admit the plaintiff to the hospital. 

Norbury claims he has sustained serious and permanent injuries, resulting in great pan and suffering, disability, embarrassment and damages.  

Norbury seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $50,000, plus court costs. He is represented by attonrey John J. Hopkins of Gori Julian and Associates PC in Alton.
