BELLEVILLE — A plant manager is suing his former employers, alleging disability discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Donald Wehmeier III filed a complaint Nov. 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against MPP Group of Companies, MPP Group Management and Syndeo Outsourcing LLC, alleging violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

According to the complaint, Wehmeier began working for the defendants in 2013 before he was injured on the job, which required surgery Dec. 28, 2016. The suit states he was terminated May 25, 2017, when his position was eliminated. Wehmeier says he has suffered lost wages and employment benefits, emotional distress, humiliation and loss of enjoyment of life.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants subjected him to unlawful discrimination and retaliated against him and terminated his employment because of his disability and/or perceived disability.

Wehmeier seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, litigation costs and expenses, plus all other legal and equitable relief. He is represented by attorney Sarah N. Swatosh of The Law Office of Sarah N. Swatosh in St. Louis.
