BELLEVILLE — A Smithton couple is suing a motorist for allegedly causing a rear-end crash.

Kenneth Armstrong and Linda Armstrong filed a complaint Nov. 29 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Leia K. Stein, alleging she negligently violated traffic laws.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 5, 2016, Kenneth Armstrong was stopped in his Ford Ranger Pickup on state Highway 15 at its exit intersection with state Highway 159 in Belleville when Stein's sedan struck the plaintiff's vehicle from the rear.

The suit says Armstrong sustained injuries to his head, neck, back and legs and incurred damages of more than $50,000.

The plaintiffs allege Stein failed to stop at a red light. Linda Armstrong says she suffered the loss of service and consortium of her husband.

The Armstrongs seek trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, plus court costs and all other proper relief. They are represented by attorney Michael L. McGlynn of McGlynn and McGlynn in Belleville.
