BELLEVILLE — A motorist is suing a driver for allegedly causing a collision on Mascoutah Avenue.

Sherri Milner filed a complaint on Nov. 26 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against James V. Maddox, alleging he breached his duty to exercise reasonable care in operating his motor vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 29, 2017, she was traveling on Mascoutah Avenue at or near its intersection with South Green Mount Road when the defendant drove his vehicle into Milner's path, causing her to strike Maddox's vehicle and then a utility pole.

She claims she sustained multiple injuries to her body, resulting in pain and suffering, discomfort, medical expenses and lost wages.

The plaintiff holds Maddox responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain a careful and vigilant lookout, failed to yield the right of way and failed to take evasive actions to avoid a collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus all further relief as the court deems just and proper. She is represented by Justin C. Wilson and Lisa Tsacoumangos of Brown & Crouppen PC in St. Louis.
