EDWARDSVILLE — A woman is suing her former employers for allegedly terminating her for requesting workers' compensation benefits.

Celia Hodges filed a complaint on Nov. 28 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Antolin Interirors USA and Team Company, doing business as Staff Quick, alleging they violated the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 11, 2017, she reported a workplace injury to Staff Quick and requested workers' compensation benefits. She was later terminated on Aug. 29, 2017. She alleges the defendants terminated her for requesting workers' compensation benefits.

Hodges claims she has suffered and will continue to suffer loss of income and benefits, emotional distress, humiliation and embarrassment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus interest and all other relief deemed appropriate and just. She is represented by Keith Short and John Daugherty of Short and Daugherty PC in Alton.
