BELLEVILLE — A passenger is suing a driver for allegedly running a red light and causing a collision.

Ricky D. Luttrull filed a complaint on Nov. 15 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Marion Hughes, alleging the driver negligently entered the intersection with a stop light.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 6, he was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Dawn Sinkler at the intersection of North Jefferson Street and East Main Street in Mascoutah. He claims Hughes ran a red light at the intersection and caused a collision.

Luttrull claims he sustained severe injuries to his head, neck, shoulder and body.

The plaintiff holds Hughes responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to obey traffic device, failed to yield the right of way and failed to keep a proper lookout.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for a sum exceeding $50,000, plus costs. He is represented by Leah A. Captain of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer & Shevlin Ltd. in Belleville.
