BELLEVILLE—A man claims he injured his hip after tripping on loose carpet.

Harold Baker filed a complaint on Nov. 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Scott Credit Union Community Foundation, alleging the defendant breached its duty to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 23, he was exiting the defendant's premises when he tripped on loose carpeting and fell.

Baker claims he sustained severe injuries to his right hip, endured pain and suffering, mental anguish, lost wages, and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to implement a safe procedure in maintaining the flooring of the premises and failed to adequately warn customers of the unsafe condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount exceeding $50,000, plus costs. He is represented by Thomas C. Rich of Rich, Rich & Cooksey PC in Fairview Heights.
