BELLEVILLE—A patient is claims her medical condition went undiagnosed after healthcare providers failed to perform an adequate physical examination.
Barbara Edwards filed a complaint on Nov. 5 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Memorial Hospital, Maria Scarbrough, et. al., alleging they negligently deviated from the standards of care in diagnosing and treating her medical condition.
According to the complaint, Edwards alleges that on Dec. 3, 2017, she came under the care and treatment of the defendants. She claims they failed to perform an adequate physical examination and failed to include cervical spine stenosis/cervical cord compression in her differential condition.
As a result, Edwards claims her condition went undiagnosed and untreated, which resulted in injuries that required multiple regimens of medical care and treatment.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of not less than $50,000, plus costs and all other relief that is proper and just. She is represented by J. Michael Weilmuenster of Weilmuenster & Keck PC in Belleville.
