EDWARDSVILLE — An estate administrator alleges a man died after he was hit by a vehicle in Godfrey.

Roger Howenstein, independent administrator of the estate of Daniel M. Zorger filed a complaint on Nov. 21 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Manuel Chiguil, alleging he breached his duty to operate his vehicle in a safe and prudent manner.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 16, Daniel Zorger died when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Chiguli near the intersection of North Alby Road and Short Street in Godfrey.

The plaintiff holds Chiguil responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep his vehicle within the single lane of traffic, failed to keep careful lookout and failed to reduce speed or stop.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount exceeding $50,000, plus costs. He is represented by Patrick G. King and Bryan A. Dooling of Millerking LLC in East Alton.
