EDWARDSVILLE — A shopper claims he tripped and fell due to a pothole in the parking lot of the Alton Walgreens.

Brian Hutchinson filed a complaint on Nov. 13 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Walgreen Co. and Walgreens Store, alleging they failed to exercise ordinary care to keep the store premises safe.

The plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 1, 2017, he was at the Walgreens in Alton when he allegedly was injured after tripping on a pothole and falling in the parking lot.

He suffered injuries to his shoulder, left foot and left ankle.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to fix the pothole or warn customers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for a sum greater than $50,000, plus costs. He is represented by Michael P. Glisson and Timothy J. Chartrand of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
