EDWARDSVILLE — A property owner is suing his insurer for allegedly refusing to pay a claim following a fire.

Douglas Seest filed a complaint on Nov. 15 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Country Mutual Insurance, alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 16 his property at 6970-6978 Staunton Rd. in Worden was destroyed by a fire.

Seest alleges he fulfilled his contractual requirements and is entitled for payment of his loss. The plaintiff holds Country Mutual Insurance responsible because the defendant allegedly continually refuses to provide the insurance policy benefits due to Seest, the suit states.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in his favor in the amount of $407,269, plus attorney's fees, costs and all other relief that is proper and just.

He is represented by Jarrod P. Beasley of Kuehn, Beasley & Young PC in Belleville.
