BENTON — A man alleges he was harassed by a debt collector after his debts were discharged in bankruptcy.

Ronald Spielman filed a complaint on Oct. 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against SN Servicing Corp. and Partners for Payment Relief De IV, alleging they violated the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

The plaintiff alleges that in October he received collection letters from the defendants about a discharged debt of $84,636.12 payable in a single lump sum to the defendants. He alleges the defendants unlawfully attempted to collect on his debt that was discharged after he successfully completed Chapter 13 bankruptcy, which was filed in the Eastern District of Missouri.

As a result, the plaintiff alleges he felt harassed and frustrated.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and statutory damages, costs, attorney’s fees and all other relief deemed just and proper.

He is represented by Richard A. Voytas, Jr. of Ross & Voytas LLC in St. Louis.
