BENTON — The federal government is suing a woman and the Illinois Housing Development Authority for allegedly failing to pay monthly installments.

The U.S. government filed a complaint on Oct. 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against Tammie Barbre and the Illinois Housing Development Authority, alleging breach of mortgage contract.

The plaintiff alleges that it did not receive the defendants' monthly installment, interest, taxes, and/or insurance. As of Aug. 16, the total of $59,333.37 was due.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for foreclosure and sale of the property, plus attorney’s fees, costs, expenses and all further relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Adam E. Hanna of United States Attorney’s Office in Fairview Heights.
