EDWARDSVILLE — The son of a contractor accuses several manufacturers of exposing his father to asebestos.

Joseph Vogliano, individually and as special administrator for the estate of Richard Vogliano, filed a complaint on Nov. 7 in Madison County Circuit Court against A.W. Chesterton Company, Hercules LLC, United States Steel Corporation and other manufacturers.

According to the complaint, Richard Vogliano was exposed to asbestos fibers emanating from certain products manufactured by the defendants. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2016 and died last year, the complaint states. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide adequate warnings and instructions concerning the dangers of working around products containing asbestos fibers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by Taylor L. Kerns of Simmons Hanly Conroy in Alton.
