Madison County government stays in Republican control; Democrats stays firmly in control in St. Clair County

Results of county board races in Madison and St. Clair was a tale of two counties on election night. 

Having lost one incumbent in East Alton (James Futtrell) and having picked up a seat in Granite City (Eric Foster), Madison County Republicans will maintain a balance of power in county government,15-14.

It was a good night for Democrats in St. Clair County, who won 13 of 17 seats on the ballot. Fourteen of the 17 were contested; they also took three uncontested races. Republicans won four of the 14 contested races and two uncontested ones.
