EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist claims another driver caused a rear-end collision in Alton.
Sheila Alexander filed a complaint on Oct. 29 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Lowanda J, Smith, alleging she failed to keep her vehicle under proper control.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 27, 2016, she was operating her vehicle traveling north on Alby Street at or near its intersection with Homer H. Adams Parkway in Alton when the defendant rear-ended her vehicle.
Alexander claims she sustained serious and permanent injuries to her head, neck, back and shoulder and incurred a large sum of money to pay medical bills.
The plaintiff holds Smith responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain careful lookout and failed to reduce speed or stop her vehicle to avoid the crash.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs of this action. She is represented by Erin M. Phillips of Unsell, Schattnick & Phillips PC in Wood River.
