Car accident 02

BELLEVILLE — A motorist is suing another driver for allegedly causing a Swansea collision.

Kimberly P. Lewis filed a complaint on Oct. 17 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Theresa M. Scholes, alleging the driver breached her duty to exercise reasonable care in the operation of her vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 15, 2017, the defendant collided with Lewis' vehicle on North Illinois Street in Swansea.

As a result, the plaintiff claims she suffered bodily injuries resulting in pain, mental anguish, medical expenses and lost wages.

The plaintiff holds Scholes responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep sufficient lookout, failed to maintain proper control of her vehicle and failed to slacken speed or stop to avoid colliding with plaintiff's vehicle.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in her favor in an equitable and reasonable amount, plus costs. She is represented by Alvin C. Paulson of Alvin C. Paulson, Attorney at Law in Belleville.
