BELLEVILLE — A driver is suing another motorist for allegedly causing an East St. Louis collision.

Lloyd Shobe filed a complaint on Oct. 16 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Charles B. Williams and Coal Branch Farms LLC, alleging Williams carelessly operated the tractor trailer.

Williams was an employee of Coal Branch Farms, the suit states.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 8, 2017, he was involved in a collision at the intersection of Trendlay Avenue and 8th Street in East St. Louis. He claims Williams improperly backed a tractor trailer owned by his employer on the roadway, causing it to collide with the plaintiff's vehicle.

Shobe claims he suffered personal injuries to his neck, back and shoulder.

The plaintiff alleges Williams failed to keep proper lookout and failed to use precaution to avoid the collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs. He is represented by Keith Short and Jack Daugherty of Short and Daugherty PC in Alton.
