EDWARDSVILLE — A cook and dishwasher claims he was terminated from his job at International House of Pancakes after complaining of sexual harassment and discrimination.
Anthony M. Ford filed a complaint on Oct. 12 in the Madison County Circuit Court against 2098 Restaurant Group LLC, doing business as International House of Pancakes, alleging that the employer subjected him to unlawful employment practices.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that while working for the defendant, he was subjected to racial discrimination, sexual harassment and intolerable working conditions. He alleges the restaurant ignored his complaints and permitted the harassment and discrimination to continue. The plaintiff claims the defendant retaliated against him by constructively discharging him.
As a result, Ford claims he suffered inconvenience, emotional pain and suffering, lost wages and lost earnings.
The plaintiff seeks compensatory and punitive damages, plus attorney's fees and costs. He is represented by Edward J. Szewczyck of Callis, Papa & Szewczyk PC in Granite City.
