EDWARDSVILLE — Several bars are accused of selling alcohol to a 20-year-old who later caused a fatal crash.

Andria Heinemeier, as special representative of the estate of Katie L. Blunt, filed a complaint on Sept. 25 in Madison County Circuit Court against Caleb A. Lenhardt, Donzo's Bar and Grill Inc., Van Lenhardt Inc., Ragin' Cajun Inc., Reggie's Place Inc.; Bubby & Sissy's Inc. and the Firehouse.

According to the complaint, Lenhardt was driving his vehicle in reverse and crashed into Blunt, who later died as a result of his injuries. The plaintiff claims Lenhardt was intoxicated at the time of the collision.

The plaintiff also alleges the various bars named as defendants negligently sold alcohol to Lenhardt, who was 20 years old at the time.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in her favor for the maximum amount allowed by law. She is represented by Keith Short and Jack Daugherty of Short & Daugherty PC in Alton.
