BELLEVILLE — A woman is suing Memorial Hospital Belleville and several medical providers alleging her daughter suffered injuries caused by an IV.

Cartessia Ben Taieb and Tycarria Barr filed a complaint on Sept. 13 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Memorial Hospital Belleville, Protestant Memorial Medical Center, CEP America LLC, CEP America-Illinois PC, James Coleman PA, Maria Scarbrough MD, Jim Schlesinger and Brandi Glenndening.

According to the complaint, the defendants started an IV in Taieb's hand, which later caused an injury. The plaintiffs claim the defendants failed to remove the IV after the extravasation of fluid.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendants in a sum exceeding $50,000, plus costs. They are represented by Michael Gras of Law Offices of Christopher Cueto Ltd. in Belleville.
