BELLEVILLE — A former patient blames Cedar Ridge Health and Rehab Center for an infection that resulted in amputation.

James Ireland filed a complaint on Sept. 5 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Covenant Care Midwest Inc., which operates Cedar Ridge Health and Rehab Center.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he was a resident at Cedar Ridge Health and Rehab Center in Lebanon. He claims he developed an infection due to lack of dressing changes. The infection necessitated an above-the-knee amputation, the complaint states.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court. He is represented by Kevin J. Conway and Matthew J. Adair of Cooney & Conway in Chicago.
