Car accident 35

BELLEVILLE — An injured passenger accuses a driver of causing a car accident.

Julia Mash-Fletcher filed a complaint on Aug. 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Patrick Harget, alleging that the driver breached his duty to exercise ordinary care in operating his vehicle.

According to the complaint, the defendant struck the rear of a vehicle that plaintiff was riding in. The plaintiff claims she suffered serous and disabling injuries to her body and limbs and resulting in medical expenses, great pain, emotional distress and lost wages. The plaintiff holds Harget responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep proper lookout, failed to reduce speed and failed to maintain safe distance.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs. She is represented by Julie A. Themer of Tuggle, Schiro, Lichtenberger & Themer PC in Decatur.
