Car accident 43

EDWARDSVILLE — A passenger is suing a motorist for allegedly causing a collision.

Raymond Hunter filed a complaint on Sept. 4 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Ricardo Gomez, alleging he negligently drove his vehicle at an excessive speed.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 9, 2017, he was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Clifton Lovett when Gomez struck the rear of their vehicle.

Hunter claims he suffered injuries to his head, mouth, neck and back.

The plaintiff holds Gomez responsible because the defendant allegedly followed the vehicle more closely than reasonable and failed to reduce speed or stop to avoid a collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for a sum exceeding $50,000, plus costs and all other relief deemed necessary and just. He is represented by Aaron M. Vogel of Schultz & Myers LLC in St. Louis.
