EDWARDSVILLE — A 2017 crash in Godfrey has prompted a recent lawsuit.
Jameelah Elliott filed a complaint on Sept. 5 in Madison County Circuit Court against Nigel Hilgert, alleging he failed to maintain control of his vehicle.
According to the complaint, Elliott was traveling westbound on State Street in Godfrey when Hilgert collided with her vehicle while trying to turn left. Elliott sustained injuries to her left shoulder, left hand and other parts of her body, the complaint states. She claims Hilgert was speeding and did not properly yield.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs of this action. She is represented by Laura A. Cole of Smith, Mendenhall, Selby & Cole in Alton.
