EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist accuses a school bus driver of pulling out in front of her and causing an accident on Illinois Route 40.

Susan Sleczka filed a complaint on Aug. 24 in Madison County Circuit Court against First Student Inc. and Barbara Laramie, a school bus driver.

According to the complaint, Sleczka was traveling on Illinois Route 40 near the intersection with Quercus Grove when the school bus driven by Laramie pulled out in front of her and caused a collision. Sleczka claims she suffered injuries to her back, neck, shoulders and other parts of the body. Sleczka accuses Laramie of failing to keep proper lookout and not yielding to the right of way. 

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount greater than $50,000, plus costs. She is represented by Michael P. Glisson and Taylor N. Fehrenz of Williamson, Webster, Falb and Glisson in Alton.
