EDWARDSVILLE — A passenger's fall in a train prompted her to sue Amtrak.

Angela R. Gaddy filed a complaint on Aug. 16 in Madison County Circuit Court against National Railroad Passenger Corporation -- better known as Amtrak.

According to the complaint, Gaddy was injured while departing the Amtrak train when she fell to the ground due to unsecured stepstool. She claims she suffered injuries to her right shoulder, right elbow, right wrist, ankle and other parts of her body. Gaddy alleges Amtrak did not properly provide assistance to departing passengers.

Gaddy requests a trial by jury and seeks damages for more than $50,000, plus costs. She is represented by Rodney D. Caffey and Ralph J. Mendelson of the Caffey Law Firm LLC in Godfrey.
